Everyone has that moment in history where they can say “I remember where I was when…” But do you know where you were the year the apartment you live in was constructed? What about the inventions that were created the year you moved into a Heatherwood Luxury Rental? This is the year heavyweight boxing champ, and infomercial superstar, George Forman defended his heavyweight boxing title against former title holder Muhammad Ali. The 55 MPH Speed Limit is imposed on state highways to help preserve gas and reduce usage and consumption in the United States. The video game Mario Bros. is released as a Nintendo “arcade game” in Japan. It would take two years, until the release of Super Mario Bros., to see this iconic video game earn its due. A 5.2 earthquake hits central New York (really?), Microsoft Word is also released in 1983. And Satellite Television, a new service that delivers television programming via satellites orbiting the Earth directly to the viewer's apartments is introduced. Between Super Mario Bros. and Satellite TV, apartment renters on Long Island and New York City barely had to leave their residences to enjoy movies, gaming and more!
